For Windows

Parentix for your child’s computer

The same protection as the phone app, for a Windows laptop or PC. Install it once and manage websites, apps, screen time and schedules from the Parentix Family App.

Install it while signed in to your child’s Windows account. Parentix starts itself when that account signs in, and Windows creates that arrangement for whichever account runs the installer. You will be asked for an administrator password once during setup — that is what allows Parentix to filter websites.
Windows will show a blue warning the first time you run it. It says “Windows protected your PC” and lists the publisher as unknown. That is because our installer is not yet certified with Microsoft — not because anything is wrong with the file. Click More info, then Run anyway. Only do this for a file you downloaded from parentix.ca. We are in the process of certifying the installer, after which the warning stops appearing.
Four steps

What setting it up looks like

About five minutes, and none of it needs any technical knowledge.

01

Add the computer in Parentix

Sign in, open Children, and choose Link a device — pick your child and “Windows computer”. Parentix gives you an eight-character setup code.

02

Download and install

On your child’s computer, download Parentix from this page and run the installer. Windows shows a blue warning first — see below. Then enter an administrator password when it asks.

03

Enter the setup code

Parentix opens and asks for the code. Type it in — or, if you are already signed in to Parentix in a browser on that computer, press Connect this computer and it fills itself in.

04

You are done

The computer appears under your child straight away, your rules apply within seconds, and Parentix starts on its own every time the computer does.

From the Family App

What you can do from your phone

Every change reaches the computer in seconds, and holds even when it goes offline.

Block and allow websites

Block a site by name, or a whole category. Allow one back through that a category blocks. Filtering happens on the computer, so it works in every browser.

Block and allow apps

Pick from the programs your child actually opens. A blocked one closes, and says why — a program that vanished silently would read as a broken computer.

Daily screen-time limits

A limit for the whole computer, and per-app limits inside it. Time only counts while somebody is actually there.

Schedules and downtime

Bedtime, homework hours, weekdays and weekends. When one starts, the screen locks — without closing anything your child was in the middle of.

Pause it now

Pause one computer without touching your child’s other devices, and lift it again the moment you want to.

Know what happened

Alerts when a blocked app is opened, when the daily limit is reached, and if Parentix is switched off or interrupted on that computer.

Before you install

The details

Works on
Windows 10 and Windows 11, on Intel, AMD and ARM processors.
You will need
An administrator password on that computer, once, during installation. Parentix itself runs without one afterwards.
Your child can see it
Parentix is visible on the computer, not hidden. It shows your child exactly what is being monitored, which rules apply, and how much time is left. That is deliberate.
Location
Not reported from a computer. A laptop has no GPS, and the substitutes would put a marker on your map that looks like a real one and is not.
Updates
Installed automatically in the background. There is nothing to keep up to date.
Removing it
Uninstall from Windows Settings, as with any program — it needs an administrator password, so your child cannot remove it on their own. Uninstalling puts the computer’s network settings back as they were.
Mac
A Mac version is in development and is not available to download yet.
